Cookie Policy
Last updated Reviewed
This policy lists every cookie avathon.com sets, what each one is for and how long it lasts. It replaces the shorter notice previously published here, which described a different set of tools than the site now uses.
What we set, and what we do not
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. On this site they come from two places and nowhere else: HubSpot, which is our customer relationship and marketing platform, and Cloudflare, which serves the site and protects it from automated abuse. We run no advertising pixels and no third-party analytics beyond HubSpot.
Your choice, and how we ask for it
Cookies that are strictly necessary — the ones that remember your cookie choice, or keep the site available — are set whether or not you consent, because the site cannot work without them. Everything else is off until you turn it on. We ask through a banner on your first visit, and nothing in the analytics table below is set unless you accept.
You can change your mind at any time. "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page reopens the banner, and declining removes the choice you made before.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decision and no analytics cookies are set — you do not have to interact with the banner at all. Firefox, Brave and DuckDuckGo send this signal by default; Chrome and Safari do not.
Cookies this site sets
The durations below are the maximum lifetime of each cookie, as documented by the provider. Clearing your browser data removes all of them immediately.
Turning cookies off in your browser
Every major browser can block or delete cookies for a single site or for all of them. The controls are under Settings, usually within a Privacy section. Blocking strictly necessary cookies here will mean you are asked about cookies again on every visit, because the record of your answer is itself a cookie.
Questions
Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with personal information more broadly, including information collected through the forms on this site. If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, that policy says how to ask.
Analytics - set only if you consent
These measure how the site is used. Nothing here is set until you accept, and declining removes them.
| Cookie | What it does | Expires after |
|---|---|---|
__hstc | Main HubSpot analytics cookie. Holds the visitor identifier, the domain, and the timestamps of the first, previous and current visit. | 6 months |
hubspotutk | Identifies the visitor across sessions and is what links a form submission to a contact record, so a demo request carries the source it came from. | 6 months |
__hssc | Tracks the current session: pages viewed and when the session started. | 30 minutes |
__hssrc | Records whether the visitor restarted their browser, which is how a new session is distinguished from a continuing one. | Session |
Strictly necessary - always set
These make the site work and remember the choice you made about the others. They cannot be switched off, because without them the site cannot tell that you have already answered.
| Cookie | What it does | Expires after |
|---|---|---|
__hs_cookie_cat_pref | Remembers which cookie categories you consented to, so the banner does not ask again. | 6 months |
__hs_opt_out | Remembers that you declined cookies, so the banner does not ask again. | 6 months |
__hs_do_not_track | Stops the tracking code sending any data. Set when you decline. | 6 months |
__hs_initial_opt_in | Prevents the banner reappearing before you have answered it. | 7 days |
__hs_gpc_banner_dismiss | Records that you dismissed the notice shown when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. | 180 days |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare bot protection. Set by the network this site is served from, not by HubSpot. | 30 minutes |
__cfruid | Cloudflare rate limiting, to keep the site available. Set by the network, not by HubSpot. | Session |
